Dr. Paul Comfort Announced as Keynote Speaker at the IUSCA Annual Conference

The International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA) is thrilled to announce Dr. Paul Comfort as the first keynote speaker for the upcoming IUSCA Annual Conference, to be held on August 24, 2024, at Leeds Beckett University.

Dr. Comfort, a Professor of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Salford (UK) and an adjunct professor at Edith Cowan University (Australia), will deliver a presentation titled


“Is there too much emphasis on maximal strength development?”


Dr. Comfort's presentation will explore the following:

  1. Force production requirements for acceleration and deceleration in various sports.

  2. Methods for assessing force production characteristics and interpreting real-life data.

  3. Techniques to enhance specific force production characteristics using a sequential approach.


Paul Comfort is a renowned expert in the field, having authored/co-authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and several key textbooks in strength and conditioning. He regularly consults with team sports in the UK and USA and has been a pivotal figure in the UKSCA and NSCA.
