The International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Tom Gee as the new Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning (IJSC), joining our current Co-Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Stephen Bird. Together, they will lead our mission to bridge the gap between research and practice in the field of sports performance and exercise science.
Dr. Tom Gee brings a wealth of experience to the IJSC. Currently a Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning at the University of Lincoln, Dr. Gee also leads the BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning in Sport program, which holds the distinction of being the first university degree program to receive IUSCA accreditation. His groundbreaking research in rowing strength training earned him a PhD from Northumbria University in 2012. With 23 peer-reviewed journal publications under his belt, Dr. Gee continues to make significant contributions to the field, focusing on the fitness profiling of international age group basketball players and weight cutting practices in combat and strength athletes.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Gee is an IUSCA Master International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner, a UKSCA Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach, and the Coordinator of the University of Lincoln Sport Scholarship program. His diverse background and practical experience make him an excellent addition to the IJSC leadership team.
Upon his appointment, Dr. Gee expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help shape the future of the IJSC: "I am thankful to the IUSCA for the opportunity to act as co Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning. The journal has seen notable development in the last two years, benefited by Diamond Open Access, making all featured articles available to the wider S&C community. Various manuscript types beyond original articles are encouraged, such as ‘Informed Perspectives’ and ‘Ideas and Innovations’ offering scope for contributions from S&C professionals across a spectrum of roles within the industry."
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Tom Gee as he embarks on this new role with the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning. We are excited to see how his leadership, along with Dr. Stephen Bird, will continue to advance the IJSC's commitment to enhancing sports performance and academic excellence around the world.
