The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private land-grant research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Established in 1861, MIT has played a key role in the development of modern technology and science, and is one of the most prestigious and highly ranked academic institutions in the world. It is currently ranked as the number 1 university in the world by QS.

MIT has joined other institutions around the world in support the IJSC and it's 'Diamond Open Access' mission to deliver scientific studies to the entire community at zero cost to the publishing author and worldwide readership.

Lyrasis and Jisc

Universities around the world are able to join MIT in their support of the IJSC by pledging their commitment with funding organisations Lyrasis and Jisc.

Lyrasis is a non-profit member organization serving and supporting libraries, archives, museums, and cultural heritage organizations around the world. Lyrasis is based in the United States. It was created in April 2009 from the merger of SOLINET and PALINET, two US-based library networks.

Jisc is a United Kingdom not-for-profit company that provides network and IT services and digital resources in support of further and higher education institutions and research as well as not-for-profits and the public sector.
