About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and conscientious International Placement Coordinator to oversee and support our prestigious Volunteer Placement Program. This program provides UK-based students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at leading NCAA Division I athletic departments
across the United States.
This freelance role is central to the success of the program and involves managing relationships with students and our network of high-profile collegiate partners. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating placements, providing ongoing support, ensuring professional standards are met, and liaising with universities and sports performance leaders both in the UK and the US.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary point of contact for placement students, ensuring clear communication and
professional support throughout the placement journey.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with senior staff at NCAA Division I athletics departments
and academic institutions.
• Coordinate logistical elements of placements, including onboarding, orientation materials,
progress tracking, and post-placement evaluation.
• Monitor student progress and performance, helping to resolve issues promptly and
professionally.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and quality assurance of the Volunteer Placement
Program.
• Occasionally attend meetings or events in Leeds or elsewhere (advance notice given).
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
• A bachelor's degree at 2:1 or higher in a relevant subject (e.g., Sport Science, Strength and
Conditioning, Exercise Physiology).
• Knowledge of the Strength and Conditioning profession, including practical and academic
standards.
• Highly conscientious and organised, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities remotely.
• Proven ability to build and manage professional relationships at a senior level.
• Flexible and proactive, with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience within the US collegiate athletics system, ideally NCAA Division I.
• Previous involvement with international placements, internships, or student
support.
• Internationally recognised certification at IQF Level 6 or higher, such as:
- IUSCA Accredited International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (aISCP)
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
- UKSCA Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC)
- ASCA Level 3, or equivalent
