The IUSCA International Conference on Strength and Conditioning, which took place on Friday 6th June, will go down as one of the most memorable S&C events of 2025.
Bringing together true world-leading practitioners, coaches, academics, and researchers in strength and conditioning, this event helped raise the profile of S&C and set new standards for the sharing of best practice and global collaboration.
Over 120 delegates descended on the Carnegie School of Sport Building, an outstanding facility that hosted the event.
Things kicked off with the leading sprint researcher, JB Morin, giving us a unique glimpse into his latest research that has yet to be published.
Damian Harper then discussed all things deceleration, before Steph Mock Grubbs from the Houston Astros took us through how to implement a microdosing approach in various sports.
Richard Blagrove, from Loughborough University finished things off before lunch, showing us why S&C is important in endurance running.
The lunch break provided a fantastic networking opportunity for the diverse attendees from all over the world to meet likeminded individuals and discuss topics in S&C.
There was also the opportunity to get hands-on with some of the latest and best technology and facility solutions in S&C, with our fantastic sponsors in attendance, including PLAE, Hawkin Dynamics, Teambuildr, Output Sports, and CASES.
After lunch, we had Head of Department representatives from over 20 leading institutions in the UK take part in a vital HE Forum, discussing the latest developments in the university sector.
Prof. David Morley then gave us an introduction to the IQF Independent Regulator Council, of which he is the Chair, detailing how this will help professionalise and unite the global S&C profession.
We were then treated to a hugely motivational keynote from the legendary Ron McKeefery, which was made possible through the support of PLAE, before the latest inductions to the Level 8 Master International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (mISCP) honours were announced. This included our guest from UCLA, Director of Athletic Performance, Dawn Malone, and the very next keynote speaker, John McMahon.
John then demonstrated why he is an an mISCP, by taking us through his world-leading knowledge in force plate assessment methodologies.
This was followed up by world-renowned academic, Prof. Paul Comfort, helping practitioners understand which force metrics are important and why.
The event then closed on a high, with a high-energy, passionate keynote presentation, by one of the world's best combined practitioner/academic, Bryan Mann, showing why power is important.
The planning has now already begun for next year's conference, but this one will be hard to top!
Thank you to all of the amazing speakers, who displayed the vast range of knowledge and skills we are lucky to have within the S&C profession.
Also thank you to our fantastic sponsors, who enabled this event to take place.
And finally, thank you to all of the attendees, who made this a guaranteed highlight of 2025!
It was an outstanding conference that truly showcased the global power of the Strength&Conditioning community. World-class keynote speakers, cutting-edge presentations, and invaluable networking opportunities. Congrats to @IUSCA for setting a new benchmark for international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field.
