Dr Antonio Dello Iacono | Personalising Resistance Training using Autoregulation

Dr Antonio Dello Iacono, a Reader in Strength and Conditioning at the University of the West of Scotland, will be delivering an in-depth webinar on Personalising Resistance Training using Autoregulation. This will include a Q&A at the end.


Dr Antonio Dello Iacono is a Reader in Strength and Conditioning at Division of Sport, Exercise and Health at the University of the West of Scotland.


He has 20 years combined experience of working as a practitioner in elite sport with university teaching and research positions. His research activity spans across the areas of elite performance conditioning, training load monitoring, performance analysis and implementation of technology in sport.


Antonio is particularly interested in the application of autoregulation paradigms to training prescription.


This presentation serves as the inauguration of Dr Antonio Dello Iacono as a Master International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (mISCP) with the IUSCA.

Alex Wolf | An Adaptation Led Approach to S&C

Alex Wolf, founder of the Strength and Conditioning Academy, will be taking part in a discussion on several important areas of S&C and sports performance, including what the ultimate focus of S&C should be. This will include a Q&A at the end.


Alex is the founder of the Strength and Conditioning Academy, which provides education and consultancy support in both technical and non-technical practitioner and leadership skills domestically and internationally.


Alex consults widely for National Olympic Committees, Premier League football clubs, national coaching federations and governing bodies. Alex works with Olympic, professional, and national sports organisations to deliver in-depth reviews of performance, culture, and operations.


Through large-scale data collection and proprietary AI methods that distil clarity from complexity which provides sharp insight, challenging assumptions, and facilitating the strategic design of future practice.


Known for his work on performance-driven training design, applied problem-solving, and the integration of AI into coaching practice, Alex has published two books and numerous peer-reviewed articles in these areas.


Alex has spent over two decades working in high-performance sport, including 15 years at the UKSI with five years as Head of Strength and Conditioning, and two as Head of Learning and Development. Alex currently serves on the Coaching Commission for World Skate.

Jaron Kung | Optimising Athletic Development in Youth Sports: Balancing Maturation and Performance

Head of Athletic Development at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, New Zealand, will be delivering an in-depth webinar on Optimising Athletic Development in Youth Sports: Balancing Maturation and Performance. This will include a Q&A at the end.


Jaron Kung is a seasoned strength and conditioning professional with over a decade of experience in athletic development and sports performance. Currently, he serves as the Head of Athletic Development at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, New Zealand, where he designs and implements comprehensive training programs for high school athletes, mentors' junior coaches, and collaborates with sports medicine professionals to optimise athlete performance and safety.


Prior to this role, Jaron was a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise, delivering degree-level courses in exercise program design, sport coaching, and related subjects. His academic background is complemented by practical experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for various professional and semi-professional basketball teams in New Zealand.


Notably, he served as the Head Performance Lead for the "Tall Blacks," New Zealand's Men's National Basketball team, and as the Junior Performance Lead for Basketball New Zealand, overseeing performance testing, programming, and monitoring of National junior squads.


This webinar serves as Jaron's mISCP inauguration.

Jose Afonso | Microdosing or Microplanning? A Crucial Distinction

Jose Afonso, Associate Professor at the University of Porto will be taking part in a discussion on several important areas of S&C and sports performance, including the current debate around the use of 'microdosing' in S&C, and what a useful definition should be. This will include a Q&A at the end.


José Afonso is an Associate Professor with Aggregation at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto, Sports Training Group. He was a volleyball coach for 20 years, having won several national championships, two Coach of the Year Awards for Girls volleyball, and was Coach of Under-15 to U17 Portuguese National Teams.


He worked for 10 years as Coach Educator for the Portuguese Volleyball Federation and more recently collaborated as Coach Educator for the Portuguese Table Tennis Federation.


He also collaborated with the Portuguese Olympic Committee and the Portuguese Institute for Sport and the Youth, including co-writing the official Training Theory and Methodology textbooks used for Coaches Courses. His research focuses mainly on performance analysis, stretching, and increasingly on meta-research.
