What are the biggest challenges facing the Strength & Conditioning profession, and where should we focus next?

The IUSCA is launching its Global Industry Insights Survey 2026, a major international consultation designed to better understand the current problem space across Strength & Conditioning.

​

The survey will be shared with our community of more than 55,000 members worldwide, giving practitioners, educators, employers and other industry stakeholders the opportunity to directly influence how we understand the profession and where future support should be focused.

​

Strength & Conditioning continues to develop across university and professional sport, health, tactical and occupational performance, private practice and many other settings. As the profession grows, we want to better understand the realities experienced by those working within it.

​

The survey will explore areas including:

• Education and practitioner preparation
• Placements and practical experience
• Early-career development and employment
• Continuing professional development
• Technology and its use within practice
• The relationship between research and practice
• Professional standards and recognition
• Emerging challenges and future priorities

 

Importantly, we are approaching this as a problem-finding exercise. Before developing new initiatives, resources or professional solutions, we want to understand which problems actually matter to the people working across the profession.

The project is being led by Rob Rowland, IUSCA Director of Industry Engagement and Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth.

​

The findings will help inform the future development of IUSCA initiatives and will provide a broader picture of the challenges, opportunities and priorities shaping Strength & Conditioning internationally.
