Griffin Waller | Return to Play: Strategy, Evidence and Protocols

We are pleased to announce the next free webinar in our series for the S&C and Sports Performance community.


Griffin Waller, Director of Sports Performance at the University of Portland. Griffin will be covering how to implement at comprehensive Return-to-Play (RTP) strategy, including an in-depth analysis of the research and philosophies.


Griffin Waller was named Director of Sports Performance at the University of Portland in June of 2017. Waller oversees all aspects of sports performance for Portland’s 14 sports, ensuring every student-athlete receives the most comprehensive performance services to reach their athletic potential. In addition, he directly serves as the performance coach for Men’s Basketball and Men’s and Women’s Tennis. Waller is a product of Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, where he was a 2011 honors graduate in Exercise and Sports Science and pitcher for the school's baseball program. He then served as an Athletic Performance Intern here at the University of Portland before becoming an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Florida in 2012. Waller assisted with both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs and was part of the men’s run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2013. He also oversaw all aspects of performance for the Gators’ Men’s Golf and Tennis programs. After his time in Gainesville, Waller went on to work as a Graduate Assistant at Stanford University. While completing his Masters of Arts in Kinesiology at San Jose State University, Waller directly assisted with the planning and execution of Stanford’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball performance plans, which had major success in his two year stint. From 2013-2015, Men’s Basketball made it to the Sweet 16 and won the NIT, while Women’s Basketball made it to the Final Four and Sweet 16 respectively. Waller also oversaw all aspects of performance for the Cardinal Sailing and Fencing programs. Waller, a native of Encinitas, California, puts a major emphasis on continuing education and professional development. Along with being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA, Waller holds Level 1 certifications from the PICP, USA Weightlifting, StrongFirst, and BioSignature Modulation.
