We are excited to share an outstanding opportunity for an IUSCA Accredited Coach to join an elite collegiate performance team. Northwestern University is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Olympic Sports Performance (Soccer).


This position strongly aligns with the high professional standards we champion. As the landscape of strength and conditioning continues to evolve, it is vital to distinguish between fully embedded professional accreditations, such as those integrated into IUSCA degrees, and external industry endorsements.

IUSCA IQF Alignment: Level 6 and Level 7 Practitioners

Given the demands of managing elite collegiate student-athletes, utilizing force plates and wearable tech (e.g., Catapult), and leading a comprehensive Big Ten soccer program, this role is perfectly suited for an IUSCA aISCP (Accredited International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner) operating at IQF Level 6 or Level 7.


This role demands an approach grounded in first-principle reasoning over inductivism, stepping away from rule-based methods in favor of explanatory problem-solving.


For an IUSCA IQF Level 6 Scientific Practitioner, this role requires the ability to:

  • Demonstrate consistently high-quality judgement across complex and unpredictable contexts.

  • Use evidence and first principles to generate explanations, test assumptions, and correct error under uncertainty.

  • Manage outcomes as interconnected systems rather than isolated targets.

  • Hold full professional responsibility and lead teams or systems.

  • Shape the reasoning conditions for less experienced colleagues by designing structured learning opportunities.


For an IUSCA IQF Level 7 Advanced Scientific Practitioner, this role provides the platform to:

  • Operate primarily through pattern recognition and anticipatory judgement.

  • Establish error-correcting cultures within teams.

  • Shape outcomes by influencing environments, structures, and processes rather than through isolated interventions.

  • Hold strategic responsibility for others' decision quality.

  • Actively challenge dogmatic practices.
