At the IUSCA International Conference on Strength and Conditioning 2026, we were honoured to announce the Glenn Corcoran Memorial Award for Applied Strength and Conditioning Practice.
The inaugural award was presented in memory of Glenn Corcoran, who sadly passed away last year.

Glenn dedicated more than 30 years to the strength and conditioning profession, earning international respect as a coach, educator, mentor, and leader. His impact extended across elite sport, coach development, and professional organisations throughout the world. He was an ASCA Life Member, recipient of the ASCA Professional Coach of the Year Award, the Bruce Walsh Award, a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach Emeritus (RSCC*E), and an IUSCA Master International Strength and Conditioning Practitioner (mISCP).
Glenn was also a founding Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Strength and Conditioning, served on the IUSCA Advisory Board, and was a valued contributor to the IQF-IRC. Throughout his career, he championed evidence-informed practice, professional standards, and the development of coaches at every stage of their journey.
During the conference, delegates paid tribute to Glenn through a moving standing ovation, following heartfelt reflections from his colleague and dear friend, Professor Stephen Bird. The moment reflected the enormous respect, admiration, and affection held for Glenn throughout the international strength and conditioning community.
The Glenn Corcoran Memorial Award for Applied Strength and Conditioning Practice has been established to recognise practitioners who demonstrate the same commitment to coaching excellence, professionalism, innovation, and athlete development that Glenn embodied throughout his life.
Through this award, Glenn's contribution to the profession will continue to be recognised and remembered for many years to come.
Thank you, Glenn.
